In
2004, remowned art director Kevin O’Callaghan asked me to participate
in his “Choose or Lose” art exhibit sponsored by MTV. Voting
booths were to be shipped from Florida to New York and given to selected
3D artists for a creative makeover. The exhibit was to take place in Washington
Square Park in the run-up to the 2004 election. These
pieces, a before and after, (booth to tank) are the prototypes for an awesome
[full scale] piece. The unaltered voting booth that I created was used to
represent the "before" stage in the original exhibit model. After
a model of the entire exhibit including all prototypes was assembled, MTV
decided not to sponsor the full scale construction. MTV executives,
however, pointed to this piece as the embodiment of their goals.
